Rishabh Pant and Gautam Gambhir have put an end to all rumors of a rift between them during the third Test of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy at Lord’s. On Day 2, cameras caught the India vice-captain and head coach sharing a laugh in the dressing room, putting social media speculation to rest.
The chatter began after the Headingley Test when Gambhir made a sharp comment during a press interaction. A reporter praised Pant’s twin centuries, but Gambhir insisted that all centurions deserved credit. That reaction sparked speculation about tension between the two.
However, during the final session of Day 2 at Lord’s, Pant and Gambhir were seen cracking up before the wicketkeeper-batter walked out to bat. The viral clip has eased concerns among fans and hinted at a strong working relationship between the duo.
Pant plays despite injury as BCCI shares update
Pant took his usual No.5 spot despite an injury scare on Day 1. While collecting a delivery from Jasprit Bumrah, Pant suffered a blow to his left index finger and had to leave the field. Dhruv Jurel stepped in as a substitute keeper for the rest of England’s innings.
Ahead of Day 2, the BCCI issued an official update stating Pant was still under observation and would not keep wickets. Nonetheless, he was seen practicing in the nets before resuming his batting duties.
At stumps on Day 2, India were 145 for 3, still trailing England’s first-innings total of 387 by 242 runs. KL Rahul and Rishabh Pant remained unbeaten at the crease, giving India hope for a strong comeback on Day 3.
