Haris Rauf Speaks on Asia Cup 2025 Handshake Row Ahead of India Clash

Haris Rauf Speaks on Asia Cup 2025 Handshake Row Ahead of India Clash

The Asia Cup 2025 has been surrounded by off-field drama after the India vs Pakistan clash. Following the heated contest, Suryakumar Yadav and Team India skipped the post-match handshake with Pakistan. The move sparked protests from the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), who lodged complaints with the ICC. Tensions escalated further when Pakistan threatened to withdraw, delaying their game against UAE by an hour.

After Pakistan’s 41-run victory over UAE, fast bowler Haris Rauf became the first player to comment on the issue. He insisted that his only concern was cricket, while the board dealt with the politics.

“I wasn’t feeling any pressure. This is not in my control. These are decisions for the board; it’s their headache. For me, I had to play the match, my focus was on that. The management have handled things pretty well,” Rauf said.

Pakistan Focused on Super Four and India Match

The win against UAE confirmed Pakistan’s place in the Super Four, setting up another clash with India on Sunday, September 21. Rauf, who made his first appearance of the tournament, admitted that team selection lies with the coaches and captain. However, he stressed that the players will be ready.

“It’s not my domain to speak on who plays and who doesn’t—that’s for the coaches and captain. As a player, if we get the opportunity, it’s on us to make the most of it. As for the batsmen, I’m sure they are discussing things among themselves. We have a few days before the next game, so hopefully we can prepare well,” he said.

Pakistan’s Path Forward in Asia Cup 2025

Despite the ongoing controversy, Pakistan’s campaign remains on track. The focus now shifts to maintaining momentum and preparing for their arch-rivals. With Haris Rauf back in action, Pakistan’s pace unit could play a decisive role in the Super Four clash against India.
