Chris Lynn Returns to Adelaide Strikers for BBL 15, Eyes 4000 Runs

Chris Lynn, the all-time leading run-scorer in the Big Bash League, is back for another season with the Adelaide Strikers. The veteran batter has agreed to a one-year extension, confirming his availability for the entire BBL 15 campaign.

The 35-year-old joins the Strikers for a fourth consecutive year after lighting up the T20 Blast in England. His knock of 108 not out from just 51 deliveries, laced with 11 sixes, guided Hampshire to a semi-final victory over Northamptonshire. Although he missed out in the final, Adelaide will be eager to see him unleash the same power this summer.

“I’m really looking forward to getting back to Adelaide Oval and helping the team go deep into finals this year,” Lynn said. “We’ve got an exciting squad this season and I can’t wait to see what we can produce when we take to the field.”

Strikers Banking on Experience and Firepower

Head coach Tim Paine admitted that securing Lynn’s signature was high on the Strikers’ list of priorities. “We’re thrilled to have Chris returning to the Strikers as we strive for a deep finals campaign,” he said. “While his batting exploits speak for themselves, his experience and leadership are equally invaluable to our emerging players within the squad.”

Lynn is now within touching distance of a major milestone, needing only 45 more runs to become the first cricketer in BBL history to cross 4000 runs. His presence adds depth to a batting unit that will also feature Matt Short and, later in the season, potentially Alex Carey once his Ashes duties are over.

Former skipper Travis Head remains without a BBL contract, though there is still a chance he could feature under the competition’s marquee player rule.

The squad has been bolstered with the signings of Jason Sangha and Mackenzie Harvey, offsetting the departures of Jake Weatherald to Hobart and Brendan Doggett to Melbourne Renegades. Overseas all-rounder Jamie Overton is also set to be available throughout the season after stepping away from red-ball cricket.

Lynn’s previous stints with the Strikers were disrupted by short-term overseas deals and injury setbacks. However, with scheduling changes to the ILT20 and his commitment to play the full tournament, Strikers fans will finally see him in action from start to finish.
