South Africa wicketkeeper-batter Quinton de Kock has ended his ODI retirement and been recalled to the national side for the upcoming white-ball series against Pakistan, along with a one-off T20I in Namibia. The 32-year-old had retired from ODIs after the 2023 World Cup, where South Africa lost to Australia in the semi-finals. De Kock last represented the Proteas in the 2024 T20 World Cup final against India in Barbados.
Head coach Shukri Conrad welcomed the return, saying, “Quinton’s return to the white-ball space is a major boost for us. He still has a strong ambition to represent his country, and the quality he brings can only benefit the team.”
De Kock has so far played 155 ODIs, scoring 6770 runs at an average of 45.74 with a strike rate of 96.64, and 92 T20Is with 2584 runs at a strike rate of 138.32.
