Pakistan refuse to share WCL points with India after cancelled clash

Tensions rise in the World Championship of Legends 2025 as the Pakistan Champions have refused to share points with India Champions, following the cancellation of their highly anticipated match in Birmingham. The game, originally scheduled for Sunday, was called off after several Indian players opted out due to ongoing political tensions after the Pahalgam terror attack.

According to sources, key Indian players including Yuvraj Singh, Shikhar Dhawan, Suresh Raina, Harbhajan Singh, Irfan Pathan, and Yusuf Pathan chose to withdraw from the match. The situation forced organisers to cancel the opening clash of India’s campaign and issue a public apology, citing “unintentional discomfort” to the Indian squad.

Pakistan demands full points, blames India for withdrawal

The controversy deepened when reports surfaced that Pakistan Champions were unwilling to share points. They argued that India backed out of the fixture and thus forfeited the right to any points. Speaking to ANI, tournament sources revealed that WCL communicated with the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) that the match could not be conducted due to India’s pullout, but clarified that India was not directly at fault from an organisational standpoint.

Still, the Pakistan camp has been vocal. Owner Kamil Khan insisted that his team should be granted two full points as per tournament rules. “India refused to play. We were ready. We deserve those two points,” he stated.

WCL continues amid rising tensions

Despite the heated debate, the tournament continues as scheduled. Pakistan, who were runners-up in the previous season, already opened their account with a five-run win over England. They are set to play against South Africa next on Friday. Meanwhile, India will begin their WCL 2025 journey against the same South African side on Tuesday.

While cricket fans expected a thrilling start to the tournament with an India-Pakistan clash, the focus now shifts to what decisions the organisers will take if both teams qualify for the knockout stages or even the final.

This latest standoff has added yet another chapter to the long and complex history between India and Pakistan, on and off the field.
