Chris Green’s stirring spell of 3/7 guided Barbados Royals to a commanding seven-wicket win over Trinbago Knight Riders in CPL 2025. The already-qualified TKR posted 166/8, but the Royals chased it down in 19 overs, thanks to a flying start from Quinton de Kock and Kadeem Alleyne, and a brutal finish by captain Rovman Powell.
Green Destroys TKR in PowerPlay
Green was sensational in the PowerPlay. He removed Colin Munro with a wicket-maiden and then dismissed Alex Hales. His third over tied down Nicholas Pooran, leaving TKR struggling at 34/3. Powell backed him for the final PowerPlay over, and Green delivered again. He dismissed another batter to finish with 3/7 in four overs, including 18 dot balls.
Pooran and Pollard Rebuild
Nicholas Pooran and Kieron Pollard added a 71-run partnership to steady TKR. Pollard attacked debutant Zishan Motara, hitting three sixes in a 20-run over. However, tight spells from Daniel Sams, Sherfane Rutherford, Ramon Simmonds, and Eathan Bosch slowed the scoring. Pollard fell for 36, and wickets tumbled, but Akeal Hosein’s late blitz of 23* lifted TKR to 166/8.
De Kock Leads Royals’ Chase
Chasing 167, Alleyne and de Kock attacked from ball one. They raced to 62/0 in six overs. Alleyne fell for 36, but de Kock powered to a 31-ball fifty. Usman Tariq struck twice, dismissing de Kock (55) and Rassie van der Dussen, but Royals needed 49 off 30 balls. Powell then turned the game, smashing 18 runs off Andre Russell. With 27 needed off 18, Powell hammered four sixes off Pollard in the penultimate over, sealing victory.
What This Means for TKR
With the defeat, TKR finished the CPL 2025 league stage on 12 points. Their top-two finish now depends on the Guyana Amazon Warriors’ last two matches, as GAW sit fourth with 8 points from 8 games and could still match TKR’s tally. Net Run Rate may decide the final standings.
