Former Indian cricket team spinner Harbhajan Singh could be in running for a key BCCI post, according to a report by The Indian Express. The Punjab Cricket Association (PCA) has nominated him as their representative for the upcoming BCCI Annual General Meeting (AGM) 2025.
The meeting, scheduled for September, will address several vacant posts, including the President, Vice-President, Secretary, Joint Secretary, and Treasurer. Reports suggest the elections may remain a ‘formality’ with appointments decided after internal discussions. Harbhajan, nominated by PCA, could be considered for one of the top roles in the country’s cricket board.
Other State Nominations for BCCI AGM 2025
The report also revealed nominations from various state cricket boards:
- Karnataka State Cricket Association – Raghuram Bhatt
- Mumbai Cricket Association – Sanjay Naik
- Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association – Former IPL chairman Arun Dhumal
- Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association – Rajeev Shukla
- Saurashtra Cricket Association – Jaydev Shah
- Baroda Cricket Association – Pranav Amin
- Tamil Nadu Cricket Association – Secretary RI Palani
Harbhajan’s Political & Cricket Administration Role
Harbhajan Singh, a Rajya Sabha MP from the Aam Aadmi Party, has already served as an advisor to the PCA. His growing influence in cricket administration adds weight to his nomination for a possible BCCI role. If appointed, it would mark a significant step for another ex-cricketer moving into decision-making roles within Indian cricket governance.

Earlier, Harbhajan also spoke about India playing Pakistan amid political tensions.
“India-Pakistan match always comes in the limelight, but after the Operation Sindoor everyone said there should be no cricket and no business,” Harbhajan told the media during a Society magazine event.
“We were playing the (World Championship of) Legends, we did not play that match (against Pakistan),” he added.
Outlook
If elected, Harbhajan Singh could join the leadership circle of the Board of Control for Cricket in India, one of the most powerful cricketing bodies in the world. His nomination by PCA reflects a growing trend of former players stepping into cricket administration at the national level, strengthening the player-to-administrator pipeline in Indian cricket.
