India vs Pakistan Asia Cup 2025: Salman Agha Says Pakistan Can Beat Any Team

The stage is set for the biggest clash of the Asia Cup 2025. India vs Pakistan will light up Sunday’s Group A battle after Pakistan cruised to a 93-run win over Oman in their opening match. Pakistan captain Salman Agha believes his side can overcome any opponent, including India, if they stick to their plans.

“We have been playing good cricket in the last 2-3 months and we just have to play good cricket. If we can execute our plans for a long enough period, we are good enough to beat any team,” Agha said after Pakistan’s win.

Pakistan Shine Against Oman

Opting to bat first, Pakistan posted 160 for 7 in 20 overs. The innings was powered by Mohammad Haris, who smashed 66 runs from 43 balls with seven fours and three sixes. In reply, Oman were bundled out for just 67 in 16.4 overs. Saim Ayub, Faheem Ashraf, and Sufiyan Muqeem picked up two wickets each.

Agha praised the bowling unit:

“With the bat, we still need to work. But with the bowling, it was outstanding. The spinners bowled really well. Shaheen (Afridi) in his second spell and Faheem also (bowled well). We have three spinners, and all are very different. We have Saim as well, he is outstanding with the new and old ball. When you come to the UAE, you need to have a lot of spinners.”

Haris Wins Player of the Match

Haris, who won the Player-of-the-Match award, admitted batting was not as easy as it looked.

“When we came here, it was looking good and flat. But when we batted, we were struggling. Good to post that total,” he said.

On his attacking mindset, Haris added, “That was what I was doing from last 5-6 years for Pakistan and in the PSL. That is what I like. The skipper also told us to be aggressive.”

Oman Skipper Proud Despite Defeat

Oman captain Jatinder Singh lauded his bowlers despite the loss.

“The way the boys bowled and fielded, they were bang on target. They executed the plan, they were 10/10. Our team is a lot better than what we performed today, and confident that we can do a lot better.”

Focus Shifts to India Clash

All eyes now move to the India vs Pakistan Asia Cup 2025 showdown in Dubai. Agha remains optimistic:

“It is just a game of cricket, you never know (how it goes).”

Jatinder Singh also shared his mindset for the big clash:

“To back ourselves and play positive cricket. Just be in the present and not think about who is bowling to you.”

The anticipation for the India vs Pakistan Asia Cup match is at its peak. Fans can expect a thrilling contest when the arch-rivals meet on Sunday.
