Lisa Keightley Takes Charge of Mumbai Indians

Mumbai Indians have appointed former Australian cricketer and two-time World Cup winner Lisa Keightley as head coach ahead of the fourth season of the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2026. Keightley replaces Charlotte Edwards, who recently moved on to take up the England national team role after her WBBL, WPL, and The Hundred tenure.

Keightley brings a wealth of experience, having coached both the Australian and England women’s teams, and most recently leading the Northern Superchargers to the Women’s Hundred title. She also served as assistant coach for Delhi Capitals Women for three seasons and has been involved in the WBBL.

A New Era For Mumbai Indians

Mumbai Indians owner Nita Ambani expressed excitement over Keightley’s appointment, highlighting her expertise and pioneering influence in women’s cricket. “Her arrival marks an exciting new chapter for Mumbai Indians as we look to scale even greater heights,” Ambani said.

Keightley, 54, stated, “It’s an honour to join the Mumbai Indians, a team that has set the benchmark in the WPL. I look forward to working with this talented group to build on our success and continue inspiring on and off the field.” With two WPL titles in three seasons already, Keightley aims to continue the team’s legacy of excellence in the upcoming 2026 season.
