Pakistan will tour Bangladesh for a three-match T20I series from July 20 to 24 in Mirpur, Dhaka, with a fresh-looking squad missing some key names. Shadab Khan and Haris Rauf will not be part of the team due to injuries. All-rounder Salman Agha has been named captain for the series.
Shadab recently underwent shoulder surgery and is undergoing rehabilitation, while Rauf has been ruled out due to a hamstring injury that also kept him out of the MLC 2025 playoffs. This marks the second T20I series under new white-ball coach Mike Hesson as Pakistan builds toward the 2026 T20 World Cup.
Newcomers Get a Chance to Shine
The squad features several new and relatively inexperienced players. Ahmed Daniyal and Salman Mirza, both fast bowlers, are uncapped at the international level. Left-arm wristspinner Sufiyan Muqeem has played just ten T20Is. Top-order batter Hasan Nawaz, who debuted earlier this year, has eight T20Is to his name. Abbas Afridi is the most experienced among the new lot, with 21 T20Is since his debut in 2023.
These players have shown promise in the Pakistan Super League. Abbas Afridi took 17 wickets in 11 matches for Karachi Kings. Salman Mirza impressed with nine wickets in just four games for Lahore Qalandars. Hasan Nawaz stood out with 399 runs at a strike rate of 162.19 for Quetta Gladiators.
Building for the Future
Pakistan is clearly focusing on grooming young talent for the future, particularly the 2026 T20 World Cup. With some senior players rested or injured, this series provides an ideal platform for emerging cricketers to prove their potential.
The Pakistan Cricket Board will announce the squad for the upcoming white-ball series against the West Indies in the United States and the Caribbean in early August.
