Pakistan has officially lodged a complaint against India after Team India, led by Suryakumar Yadav, refused to shake hands following their seven-wicket win in the Asia Cup 2025 Group A match at Dubai International Stadium. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) stated the action went against the spirit of sports.
The incident follows the tragic Pahalgam terror attack earlier this year, which claimed 26 lives, and India’s subsequent Operation Sindoor. The tense political backdrop added pressure to the match, which already faced boycott calls in India.
Drama Unfolds Post-Match
The controversy began when India’s captain Suryakumar Yadav and Shivam Dube returned to the dressing room immediately after hitting the winning runs, refusing to offer handshakes to Pakistan players. Despite Pakistan’s captain Salman Agha and coach Mike Hesson approaching the Indian dressing room, the door was firmly closed.
Following the match, Suryakumar dedicated India’s win to the Indian Armed Forces and expressed solidarity with the families of the Pahalgam attack victims. “We stand by the families of the victims of the Pahalgam terror attack. We dedicate this win to all our armed forces who showed bravery and continue to inspire us,” he said.
