Pissed Off’ Abhimanyu Easwaran Reacts to India Test Snub, Gautam Gambhir Promises Long Run

Abhimanyu Easwaran was “pissed off” after missing his India Test debut at The Oval vs England, his father revealed.

Despite performing well for India A before the England series, Easwaran was repeatedly ignored for the playing XI. When multiple injuries hit the squad before the final Test in London, he expected his long-awaited chance. But once again, the call never came.

Emotional Reaction After Oval Snub

Easwaran’s father, Ranganathan Parameshwaran Easwaran, shared details of their emotional phone call after the fifth Test omission.

“He was disturbed. He said, ‘Dad, I still haven’t found a place.’ But quickly moved focus to Duleep Trophy,” Ranganathan told Vickey Lalwani’s YouTube channel.

Easwaran, determined and focused, has decided to resume training in Bengaluru ahead of the Duleep Trophy, showing no signs of giving up on his cricket dream.

Gautam Gambhir’s Assuring Words to Easwaran

The one thing keeping Abhimanyu’s hopes alive is a promising chat with India head coach Gautam Gambhir. According to Ranganathan, Gambhir assured Easwaran that his efforts haven’t gone unnoticed.

“Gambhir told him, ‘You’ll get your turn, and I won’t push you out after 1-2 matches. You’ll get a long run.’”

This vote of confidence from Gambhir has reportedly motivated Easwaran to stay focused and ready for future opportunities with the national team.

23 Years of Dedication Still Unrewarded

Easwaran has been grinding through domestic cricket for years and has often been part of India’s Test squad without getting a debut.“He’s waited for four years and trained hard for 23. Not getting picked won’t shatter him,” his father added.

The wait continues for Easwaran, but with support from the Indian team management, especially Gambhir, he remains optimistic.
