Priyansh Arya, who impressed in IPL 2025 with Punjab Kings, is making headlines again in the Delhi Premier League 2025 (DPL 2025). Playing for Outer Delhi Warriors, the swashbuckling southpaw hammered a sensational 52-ball century against East Delhi Riders. With this knock, Arya became the first batter in DPL history to score multiple centuries.
He further boosted his team with a blazing 30-ball 76 against North Delhi Strikers, ending their five-match losing streak.
Coming off an IPL season where he scored 475 runs in 17 innings, Arya had extra attention this year. However, he remained unfazed.
“No, there wasn’t much pressure last year and even this year I didn’t feel it. I just wanted to perform better than last year. There are still three matches left, so I’ll try to bounce back in those,” Arya told India Today.
So far in DPL 2025, Arya has scored 303 runs from eight innings at an average of 37.88 and a strike rate of 166.48. Known for his attacking style, he acknowledged the importance of adding consistency.
“No, consistency is important. Of course, impactful innings look good if the team wins, but if we don’t win, then I know I need to focus more on consistency,” said Arya.
IPL 2025 Freedom From Ricky Ponting and Shreyas Iyer
Reflecting on his IPL 2025 journey with Punjab Kings, Arya credited head coach Ricky Ponting and captain Shreyas Iyer for backing him.
“Both of them gave me a lot of freedom — to play the way I want, as long as it benefits the team. Whether I score 30 off 10 balls or 30 off 30 balls — as long as it helps the team, they were happy with that,” he added.
Priyansh Arya Targets Ranji Trophy Success
The 23-year-old southpaw is also eager to prove himself in red-ball cricket, particularly in the Ranji Trophy.
“I’ve played a lot of red-ball cricket — in U-19 and U-23 cricket. So it’s not something totally new to me. Of course, Ranji Trophy is tougher — conditions are different, matches start in the morning. It’s challenging, but that’s what makes it fun. Shubman Gill is my idol in red-ball cricket,” said Priyansh Arya.
With one game left in DPL 2025, Arya is determined to finish strong and carry momentum into the Indian domestic season. After making fans take notice with six sixes in the first DPL, Arya has shown he is not just a one-dimensional player.
