Sri Lanka Announce Asia Cup 2025 Squad with Wanindu Hasaranga’s Return

Sri Lanka have named their squad for the Asia Cup 2025, with ace all-rounder Wanindu Hasaranga making a crucial return. He had been struggling with a hamstring injury and missed the Zimbabwe T20I series, but he is now expected to be fit before the tournament. His comeback is a huge plus for Sri Lanka, especially in the UAE where conditions are known to favor spinners.

Hasaranga replaces Dushan Hemantha in the squad originally picked for Zimbabwe. On the other hand, Avishka Fernando, Dinesh Chandimal, Jeffrey Vandersay, and Eshan Malinga have been excluded after the series against Bangladesh. Making their way back are Nuwanidu Fernando, Kamil Mishara, Dushmantha Chameera, and Chamika Karunaratne, giving the team a more balanced look.

Strong Line-up for Asia Cup

The batting unit looks solid with Pathum Nissanka, Kusal Mendis, Kusal Perera, Kamindu Mendis, and Charith Asalanka leading from the front. In the fast bowling department, Matheesha Pathirana, Nuwan Thushara, and Dushmantha Chameera provide the edge, while the spin attack will revolve around Maheesh Theekshana, Dunith Wellalage, and Wanindu Hasaranga.
