Suresh Raina Claims India Players Reluctant Against Pakistan

Former Indian cricketer Suresh Raina has revealed inside details about India’s Asia Cup 2025 clash against Pakistan, claiming that none of the Indian players actually wanted to play the match. According to Raina, the decision to face Pakistan was purely enforced by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), leaving players with no choice.

Players Forced to Play Despite Reservations

In a conversation with Sports Tak, Raina said, “I know one thing for sure. If you personally ask the players, none of them wants to play the Asia Cup. They are forced because the BCCI has agreed to it. I am sad that India are playing against Pakistan, but I can also say for a fact that if Suryakumar Yadav and his players were asked about their personal opinions, they would have said no. None of them wanted to play.”

The political tensions between India and Pakistan, especially after the Pahalgam terror attack and the subsequent Operation Sindoor, made the match highly sensitive. Social media sentiment in India reflected anger and resentment over the game, with many calling for a boycott.

India Sends a Message with a Dominant Win

Despite their reluctance, the Indian team delivered a clinical performance on the field, defeating Pakistan by seven wickets. The team also used the victory to express solidarity with the victims of the Pahalgam terror attack. While the match was intense, India maintained a strict focus on cricket, avoiding any off-field interactions or handshakes with the Pakistani players.

The Asia Cup clash highlighted not only the political tensions surrounding the fixture but also the professionalism of the Indian players, who managed to execute a flawless game despite their personal reservations.
