Zak Crawley wins the PLAYER OF THE MATCH AWARD. He says it's great to play for Northern Superchargers. Tells the bowlers did well to pull things back after being under the pump. During the batting, the plan was to play strong shots. Mentions he enjoys playing with Dawid Malan up front. Ends by again crediting the way his bowlers pulled back the momentum.
The openers of both the teams gave them a blistering start but one teams duo helped them go all the way as Zak Crawley played throughout however with Welsh Fire, after Steve Smith and Jonny Bairstow's wicket, they fell like a pack of cards and as said during the first innings, Welsh Fire needed someone to play the anchor role which they lacked.
Welsh Fire knew they were 15-20 runs short, if not 25 to be honest. They needed wickets up front, but instead were put under pressure by Northern Superchargers. They missed someone with X-factor. Riley Meredith looked the most dangerous as he ended with two wickets but apart from him, it was an ordinary bowling performance.
Northern Superchargers comfortably start the new season. Chasing a par score, they got the perfect platform set by the openers, Zak Crawley and Dawid Malan, who made the most of the Powerplay, scoring plenty of boundaries and bringing up fifty in no time. Malan struggled a bit but Zak Crawley looked at his absolute best as he went onto score a fine fifty. Harry Brook charged down on his first delivery and scored a six, eventually playing a wonderful cameo of 25 off 15.
