That is all from this game. The action continues in the World Championship of Legends and we have reached the final day of the group stages. On the 29th of this month, Australia Champions will face Pakistan Champions and later, India Champions will take on West Indies Champion. Do join us at 11.30 am GMT for all the action. Join us earlier for the build up. Till then, cheers!
Eoin Morgan, the skipper of England Champions says it was a perfect game, their best performance so far. Tells all players stepped up and Ravi Bopara's inning made the difference. Shares his bowlers responded well when India were hitting. Reckons the score was par and he needed a couple of his bowlers to step up and do the work.
Yuvraj Singh, the skipper of India Champions says they didn't bowl. Feels 220 was chaseable but didn't play well in the Powerplay and didn't get any momentum with the bat. Shares Harbhajan Singh was playing back-to-back games, so it was hard for him to get into the game straightaway.
Ravi Bopara, PLAYER OF THE MATCH, says they needed to win as it was important. Tells it was a par score on this pitch, India Champions have some dangerous players and had Yusuf Pathan right till the end and is happy Ajmal Shahzad took his wicket. Reckons he agrees there are still nerves to do well at this stage.
...Presentation...
England Champions have done their job and will end the day in fourth spot. However, they have to rely on India, surprisingly, in a couple of days when they take on West Indies and hope they beat them. Today, England Champions got the job done. Thanks to a blistering century from Ravi Bopara and a couple of cameos from Moeen Ali and Samit Patel, England Champions set up a humongous total on the board. Later, they had the runs to play with and started well with the ball. Ryan Sidebottom was superb in his opening spell and put India under pressure, which helped them to stay ahead in the game. England managed to pick wickets regularly which didn't allow India to get away with big partnerships.
India let themselves down in the Powerplay. Scoring just 35 runs and losing two wickets. India were slow to take off but once Stuart Binny walked to the middle, the momentum shifted as his 35 off 13 balls got India back on track. Still, a long way to go, but his innings provided the much-needed energy India were looking for. Yusuf Pathan took over the baton after Binny fell and continued to chase the required run rate. However, with the pressure to chase such a big total, India lost the screws in the fag end of the innings and were beaten comprehensively.
Pheww! That was some effort from India but England Champions will be relieved that they have crossed the line. The points were important for them to stay alive in the tournament. India on the other hand, are at the bottom and mathematically still in the tournament but uncertain they'll make the next round.
