Right then, London Spirit Women hae just taken a giant leap towards qualification for the Eliminator and with that win, they have now knocked out Trent Rockets Women out of the race for the top 3. However, Manchester Originals Women do have a chance to go level on points with the Spirit and if that happens, it will all come down to the net run rate. For now, we move on to the Men's game between London Spirit and Oval Invincibles, which is coming up next. That will begin at 11 pm IST (5.30 pm GMT) but you can simply switch tabs right away and catch our build-up to that game. Cheers!
Charlie Dean is the PLAYER OF THE MATCH for her fine display with the ball and in the field. Dean talks about that stellar catch and says that when the catch came, she thought she should have been on the edge of the circle but managed to leap high enough. Adds that it was a fantastic victory and they just wanted to bounce back but to win by that big a margin feels great. Mentions that she didn't start off well in the tournament with the ball but seems to have found her groove now. Goes on to applaud the openers for the way they played and ends by saying that they hope for the best.
The Presentation ceremony...
Earlier in the game, Charlie Dean won the toss and put Oval Invincibles Women into bat. Meg Lanning and Paige Scholfield started decently and put on 42 runs for the opening wicket but it came in 38 balls as well. With the pressure starting to mount and the boundaries hard to come by, the Invincibles started to lose wickets in a heap and London Spirit Women took full advantage of that. Led by skipper Charlie Dean who picked up a couple of wickets, the Spirit bowled brilliantly as a unit and kept the opposition down to a fairly low total.
Oval Invincibles Women will be disappointed to finish their campaign just like they began, with a defeat in the 'London Derby.' They simply didn't have enough runs on the board and even their frontline bowlers couldn't make much of an impact. Marizanne Kapp did find some early swing but was wayward and the spinners couldn't build any sort of pressure. Phoebe Franklin was the one who picked up a couple of late wickets but by then, the game was done and dusted.
London Spirit Women did all the hard work in the first half of the game with the ball and in the field but in a crucial game, early wickets could have easily derailed their progress. However, Kira Chathli was in ominous form and she put the opposition bowlers under pressure inside the Powerplay. Georgia Redmayne played second fiddle but broke free soon after the Powerplay and the duo put on 106 runs, sealing the game then and there. With just 3 runs remaining, a couple of wickets fell but Chathli did notch up a half century and Charli Knott finished things off with a boundary, with plenty of balls to spare.
LONDON SPIRIT WOMEN HAVE ONE FOOT IN THE ELIMINATOR! The reigning champions have done what they needed to do and have given their net run rate a substantial boost as well, but they will have to wait for about 24 hours more before they find out if their place in the knockouts is secured or not. Oval Invincibles Women on the other hand, end a disappointing campaign with their 6th defeat of the season.

OUT! TIMBER! Kira Chathli goes for a cheeky finish but ends up losing her wicket and Phoebe Franklin gets rid of both openers. Franklin keeps the length full and targets the stumps and Chathli goes for the reverse sweep, trying to hit it fine but misses. The ball goes on to crash into the stumps and Chathli has to walk back for 53 off jsut 29 balls. Still, 2 runs needed for the win.

Length ball on middle, clipped away in front of mid-wicket for a single. Could have easily been two but the batters decide against it.
Grace Harris walks in at number 3.
OUT! CAUGHT! Oh, a bit of an anti-climax and London Spirit Women do end up losing a wicket with 3 more runs to win. Phoebe Franklin pitches the ball up around off, on a nagging length. Georgia Redmayne backs away and looks to go over mid off but mistimes it badly. Alice Capsey takes a good ctch back over her head and Redmayne departs for a well-made 42 off 30 balls.

FOUR! Short of a good length and angled into the pads, Georgia Redmayne flicks it off the legs and down to the vacant backward square leg fence for a boundary.

A length ball around off, Georgia Redmayne backs away and swats it straight to mid off. Redmayne runs down the pitch looking or the single which isn't there and has to scamper back.
