So, against all odds, the Rockets have defeated the Spirit, jumping to 6th spot in the points table. The big win has meant that their net run rate has improved significantly, though it still is in the negative. They head to Nottingham next, where they take on Southern Brave Women, on Saturday, 16th August, 2025. The Spirit, on the other hand, stay in second place but this big loss has dented their net run rate, pushing them into the negative. They will look to bounce back come Sunday, 17th August, when they take on Birmingham Phoenix Women at Edgbaston. That's all we have from here for this game but another action-packed match is coming up next, with The Men's teams (Spirits and Rockets) set to clash. Our buildup has already begun, so do hop in to that matchcentre. ADIOS! TAKE CARE!
Trent Rockets Women's NATALIE SCIVER-BRUNT is adjudged the PLAYER OF THE MATCH for her impressive unbeaten 51 (29) with the bat. She says that it feels brilliant to get points on the board. Acknowledges that the team was good in patches but did well to get over the line. On her batting position, Sciver-Brunt mentions that she is happy to come in at any stage and was glad to get a good chance to score freely in this game. Highlights the importance of versatility and says that all-rounders are key in any team, and praises her skipper, Ash Gardner, for leading the side nicely.
Earlier in the game, London came back strongly after a pretty poor Powerplay, where they conceded 52 runs with the new ball. However, they did bounce back through Eva Gray's 4-fer, striking twice in an over twice, but ultimately, that Powerplay deluge was the one which ended up hurting them. Bryony Smith did all the damage up top, with 42 but Natalie Sciver-Brunt batted till the end, scoring a gritty unbeaten 51, ensuring that there was always a set batter at one end. The only complaint would have been she not farming the strike in the last few balls, else, they could have even got to 160 and the win margin would have been even bigger.
We did express our concerns over the Spirit's batting depth on challenging surfaces. Last season, it was Georgia Redmayne who was doing all the talking. In this game, she could not contribute much and the batting faltered again. Just 3 batters managed to reach double figures, with Charli Knott's 33 being the top score, showing how difficult it was to score. On such pitches, the new ball is the key but the Spirit managed just 26/1 in the fielding restrictions' phase and were always behind the 8-ball from there on.
Boy, is there a vacancy available for doing the pitch report? Certainly we cannot qualify for that post as our thoughts and predictions during the innings break have been simply blown away! We felt that the pitch was not slow, but it actually slowed down a lot in the second innings. All the bowlers resorted to change in pace and the spinners, three of them, had combined figures of 7/59 in 50 balls! They just took a cue from how the Spirit bowled and eventually, this might be termed as an incorrect call at the toss by Charlie Dean. The fielding was a mixed bag though, with a few dropped catches, but luckily for the Team In Yellow and Orange, they did not come back to haunt them.
The monkey is off the back for one team but not for the other! After two losses to start their campaign, Trent Rockets Women finally manage to get their first win of the season. However, in 5 meetings, London Spirit Women are yet to taste victory against The Rockets! Also, this is the third match of The Hundred for the Rockets at Lord's and they have won all three! Additionally. London Spirit Women, who had not lost here for the last 4 matches, are consigned to a defeat. This is the BIGGEST DEFEAT FOR LONDON SPIRIT WOMEN in terms of runs in The Hundred!

OUT! STUMPED! DONE AND DUSTED! Trent Rockets Women beat London Spirit Women by 33 runs. Kirstie Gordon slows it up and keeps it on the dragging length, around middle, Charli Knott uses her feet and looks to heave it across into the leg side, but gets undone by flight and turn. The ball goes past the outside edge of the bat and the keeper, Natasha Wraith, does the rest behind the stumps, who collects and dislodges the bails. This is the first win of the Rockets this season, and they are all pumped up, celebrating the win.

On a length and around off, Bex Tyson looks to tuck it into the leg side but gets an inside edge that rolls away to short fine leg. A single taken.
Bex Tyson is the last batter in, replacing Eva Gray.
OUT! CAUGHT! Another one is down, and the London Spirit Women are on the verge of getting bundled out. On the nagging length and around middle and off, Eva Gray switches her grip and looks to reverse-sweep it but she plays her shot a bit early, and the ball comes later than she would have expected it to be. The ball catches the lower part of the bat and flies towards extra cover, where Ash Gardner moves to her right a bit and takes it. Trent Rockets Women are on the verge of a big win here.

Almost carried! Gordon tosses it up and keeps it around off, Charli Knott comes forward and heaves it for a big shot, but doesn't get the timing right. The ball flies off the inner half of the bat and goes towards deep mid-wicket, where Heather Graham runs forward and puts in a valiant dive but the ball falls down ahead of her hands. A single is taken as the ball goes through her and rolls away behind.

A misfield and an extra run! Very full and around off, Charli Knott uses her feet and squeezes it towards backward point, who gets across to her left but the ball bounces and spins away further and she fails to collect it. The batters take two runs.
