Right then, that is it from this game and what a thrilling contest we have just witnessed at the Oval. It is a double-header Saturday, however and we have plenty of action still to come from The Hundred, Women's competition. Next up, it will be Welsh Fire Women taking on reigning champions London Spirit Women in Cardiff. You can simply switch tabs and tune in to our coverage of that game. Cheers!
Manchester Originals Women skipper, Beth Mooney, is the PLAYER OF THE MATCH for her fine innings. Mooney says that it got a bit tight in the end and the opposition did really well to take it deep but is happy to get the win. Adds that in short-form cricket, it is very hard to judge on just 1-2 innings but is happy to see Bryce come in and take on the bowlers like she did and is happy to have hung in there and got a defendable total on board. Reckons that the nature of the game is such that if you get stuck at one end, you lose momentum. On Meg's dropped catch, she says that she has seen Lanning win matches single-handedly and is happy they managed to get her out on the second attempt.
The Presentation ceremony...
Earlier in the game, Lauren Winfield-Hill won the toss and put Manchester Originals Women into bat. The Originals, riding on the back of a stellar 70 from skipper Beth Mooney, put up a solid total of 139 runs, in which Kathryn Bryce also impressed with her aggressive shot-making early on. As for Oval Invincibles Women, Marizanne Kapp picked up a couple of wickets and three more bowlers got into the wickets column but no one apart from Kapp seemed consistent enough.
Nerves of steel in the end from Deandra Dottin and Manchester Originals Women as at one stage it looked like a tough job to stem the flow of runs. The pacers weren't on the money to begin with and Lauren Filer was all over the place. However, Amelia Kerr and Sophie Ecclestone bowled crucial sets at crucial times and picked up crucial wickets to keep their side in the game. Towards the end, Kathryn Bryce did a fine job and Dottin used all of her experience and the variations in the final set to see her side over the line.
Needing 140 runs for the win, Oval Invincibles Women needed a positive start and they got just that. Skipper, Lauren Winfield-Hill was up and running quickly and along with Meg Lanning, she added on a blistering stand inside the Powerplay. It was all smooth sailing for the Invincibles as after Lauren got out, Lanning started to fire and even Alice Capsey started off well. However, the dot balls started to creep in and there was a phase where the boundaries were hard to come. Lanning fought and took it deep but with 5 balls remaining, she got out and even a six from Paige Scholfield in the final set wasn't enough to take them over the line.
Oh, what a game of cricket we have just witnessed here at the Oval, giving shades of that England vs India Test match from last week and just like in that game, the team defending the total has managed to hold their nerves. Manchester Originals Women pick up their first win of the season as Oval Invincibles Women have to settle for two defeats to begin their campaign.

That's it, Deandra Dottin and Manchester Originals Women have done just enough! Full and at the pads, a low full toss in fact, and Marizanne Kapp gets cramped for room. Kapp flicks it away to deep mid-wicket and picks up just a single. Manchester Originals Women win a thriller by 2 runs!

Full ad straight, Paige Scholfield firms it but straight to covers and picks up a single.

SIX! Oh, deary me! It is all happening out there in the middle. Deandra Dottin serves it full and straight, Paige Scholfield stays low and heaves it away towards the deep mid-icket fence. It seems to be sailing just over but Amelia Kerr reaches it and tries to take the catch but goes over the ropes. Could she have just tried to palm it in? Probably.

Beaten! Slower one, floated up outside off, Paige Scholfield advances to drive but is undone by the lack of pace.

Fuller in length and at the stumps, Paige Scholfield brooms it away wide of short fine leg and picks up a couple of runs. 11 needed off 4.
Paige Scholfield is in next.

OUT! CAUGHT! This time, Alice Monaghan hangs on and Meg Lanning will have to depart. Another twist in the tale. Pitched-up delivery around off, Lanning stays leg side of the ball and lofts it over extra cover. Monaghan comes running in from deep extra cover and pouches it safely as Lanning departs for 56. 13 needed off the final set.

DROPPED AND FOUR! Has Fi Morris just dropped the match? What drama! Pitched-up delivery around middle and leg, Meg Lanning picks it up and swings it down to deep square leg. Morris sets herself just inside the ropes but simply seems to have been too casual. The ball bursts through the hands, lands inside the ropes and goes over for a boundary.

Full and straight, Kapp hits through the line and towards long on for just a single.
