Right then, that is it from the game. The Hundred Women, 2025 action continues as we have a game lined up between the Welsh Fire Women and the Manchester Originals Women up next. The buildup for this game has already started, so do switch tabs and enjoy the coverage of that game. Cheers!
Sophie Devine is the Hero of the Match. She says that it’s been outstanding and a privilege to be part of the organization. She notes they were unsure about overhead conditions, used the wicket, and accepted why batting first. They leveraged home conditions and adapted well. She mentions assessing the opposition’s strengths, taking pace off the ball, and that the spinners can vary pace for dividends. On Laura Wolvaardt, she says that Laura Wolvaardt is outstanding and praises Laura’s and Danni Wyatt-Hodge's striking.
Earlier in the game, Southern Brave Women delivered a commanding bowling display to restrict Northern Superchargers Women to 102, wrapping up the innings on the final ball. The Brave’s attack shared the wickets evenly, with Sophie Devine spearheading the effort by taking three for 15, and every other bowler except Chloe Tryon contributing with at least one wicket. Superchargers started shakily, with early dismissals of Alice Davidson-Richards and Phoebe Litchfield. Annabel Sutherland and Hollie Armitage stabilised briefly, delivering a 43/3 at halfway, but the middle order collapse left them at 57/6 by the 14th over, with Armitage finishing unbeaten on 36.
Wyatt-Hodge achieved a landmark, becoming the second batter to reach 1000 runs. She fell for 43, but the job was done, with Wolvaardt anchoring the innings at 33 not out off 29 and Sophie Devine closing things out at 15 not out.. Northern Superchargers Women had a small target to defend but they failed to pick wickets as well. They will look to leave this behind and bounce back stronger in their following games.
A dominant victory for the Southern Brave Women as they move to the top of the table! Chasing a modest 103, Southern Brave ticked along in the powerplay as Maia Bouchier fell early. The early wicket opening the door for someone to press, as Laura Wolvaardt rode the caution and joined Danni Wyatt-Hodge. The pair stitched a measured 62 for the second wicket, taking the score into a position of real comfort.
