And with that, the league stage of The Hundred Women 2025 comes to an end! Southern Brave Women march into the final as the favourites, while the drama now shifts to the Eliminator. London Spirit Women will take on Northern Superchargers Women on Saturday, 30th August at The Oval, London. The match begins at 6.45 pm IST (1.15 pm GMT), though rain could play a big role with forecasts not looking friendly. If the Eliminator washes out, the Superchargers will move straight into the final, courtesy of their higher finish on the table. So don’t miss the action and all the buildup, as we’ll have you covered an hour before the first ball. Also, for now, you can just switch tabs to catch up on the last league match in Men's Hundred, where the Southern Brave are taking on the Welsh Fire. Until then, take care! CIAO!
Lauren Bell is adjudged the PLAYER OF THE MATCH for her impressive match-winning spell. She says that it has been a really good tournament so far and credits her teammates for doing such a brilliant job. Feels that the side bowled exceptionally well today, with dot balls being the most crucial part of their plan, and it was great to see that come off. Adds that she is feeling in a really good place at the moment and is proud of how strong they are as a fielding unit, something they showed once again today. Extending the winning streak, she says, was key for them, and carrying that momentum into Sunday’s final is exactly what they wanted.
Time for the Post-Match Presentations...
Earlier in the match, Brave’s own batting hadn’t looked convincing. Losing Maia Bouchier early and then Wolvaardt for a quick 8 left them wobbling. Danni Wyatt-Hodge tried to steady things with her 24, and together with Freya Kemp’s 18, added some stability. But it was skipper Georgia Adams who held the innings together with a 30 not out. The Fire bowlers bowled with intent, as Hayley Matthews and Shabnim Ismail bagged two wickets each. Brave never really got going and finished with just 106/8, a total that looked below par. But what followed proved just why they’re topping the charts - defending small scores is a mark of champions.
The real story, though, was Brave’s bowling. Lauren Bell was unstoppable, returning with sensational figures of 4 for 6 in her 20 balls with 15 dot balls - arguably one of the best spells of the tournament. She struck at crucial times, removing Beaumont and Griffiths, and cleaned up the tail with ruthless accuracy. Mady Villiers and Georgia Adams backed her up with one wicket each, while Sophie Devine and young Tilly Corteen-Coleman chipped in too. What stood out was their discipline - not a single wide or No-Ball in the innings in 100 balls. The Brave bowlers hunted in packs, never allowing partnerships to build, and used the pitch conditions smartly by mixing pace with clever variations.
Chasing a modest 107, the Fire needed one solid partnership, but it never came. Sophia Dunkley gave them a good start, but her dismissal for 9 meant pressure arrived quickly. Tammy Beaumont tried to anchor the innings with 28 from 33 balls, but without support at the other end, she was forced to take risks. Hayley Matthews struck 16 but couldn’t convert it, while Elwiss, Griffiths, and the rest of the middle order fell cheaply. From 50/1, the Fire lost eight wickets for just 27 runs, a collapse that completely killed their chances. A target of 107 looked manageable, but the Fire’s batting fell apart in the big moments, leaving them stuck at 77/9.
Southern Brave Women have done it again, and in style! Defending just 106 runs, they showed why they are the standout team of this season. The Brave finished the league stage unbeaten 8-0. And more importantly, proved that they can win even on tough days with the bat. The Welsh Fire Women will be disappointed with their effort, as this was a chance for them to sign off with a consolation win. Instead, they crumbled under scoreboard pressure, ending up 29 runs short in what looked like a very chasable target. For the Brave, this wasn’t about individual brilliance but about a collective effort, where every bowler chipped in and the fielders stayed sharp right till the end.

Nagging length and around middle, Freya tucks it to short fine and wants to take a single but is sent back. The fielder picks it up to her left and throws it to the keeper who dislodges the bails but Freya drags her bat in time to make it.
