Sophie Ecclestone is the Hero of the Match. She said it was a great day for Manchester Originals Women. The girls did a fine job and now they have two days off. She was happy to bowl on the wicket which got a bit tired. She felt the bowlers did a great job keeping Trent Rockets Women to 111/7. She ends by saying that this is a key win for them.
Earlier in the game, Manchester Originals Women bowled exceptionally well, restricting Trent Rockets Women to 111. The Rockets failed to build momentum, posting a below-par total. Natasha Wraith started positively but Sophie Ecclestone dismissed her early. Natalie Sciver-Brunt and Ashleigh Gardner built a partnership before Ecclestone broke it. For the Manchester Originals Women Lauren Filer picked three wickets while Sophie Ecclestone and Kathryn Bryce chipped in with two each.
Heather Graham and Alana King then tried to pick wickets, but Beth Mooney and Kathryn Bryce kept the strike rotating with steady boundaries without taking much risk. Kathryn Bryce scored her half-century while Beth Mooney stayed unbeaten on 47. It wasn’t long before the two sealed the pursuit, finishing the job in 82 balls without losing any wickets. Trent Rockets Women just failed to pick wickets and they had a low total to defend as well. They will look to leave this behind and bounce back in their following games.
A dominant victory for the Manchester Originals Women! Their openers, Kathryn Bryce and Beth Money anchored the innings, grafting to the scoreboard against the early seam and spin. The Rockets started well, conceding only 25 in the powerplay, but failed to pick any wickets.
