Earlier in the game, the Northern Superchargers Women bowled outstandingly, restricting the Trent Rockets Women to a low total of 128. Trent Rockets, who opted to bat first, had a shaky start, losing three quick wickets in the Powerplay. Nat Sciver-Brunt and Ash Gardner steadied the innings with a 42-run partnership. Ash Gardner scored a quick 61 off 32 balls. Kate Cross led Northern Superchargers' bowling attack with 3 wickets. Grace Ballinger, Linsey Smith, and Annabel Sutherland took one wicket each. Northern Superchargers were good in the death as they denied Trent Rockets boundaries in the last four sets.
Trent Rockets Women struggled to trouble the Northern Superchargers batters. They didn't have a mountain to defend with just 128 on the board, but they failed to take regular wickets to trouble the opposition. Cassidy McCarthy and Heather Graham picked up one wicket apiece, but it wasn't enough to stem the tide of Northern Superchargers' onslaught.
Davina Perrin kept the fireworks going and she made her way to a half-century. Phoebe Litchfield chipped in with a quickfire 22, and Annabel Sutherland did her bit too, but it was all about Davina Perrin's big-hitting that made Northern Superchargers Women get over the line with ease. She ended unbeaten on a stunning 72 off just 40 balls.
Northern Superchargers Women cruised to a convincing victory! They stormed off the blocks with Davina Perrin taking the Trent Rockets bowlers apart. Alice Davidson-Richards played second fiddle at the start but departed just before the halfway stage of the second inning. The opening pair had set the tone for a commanding chase.
