And that's a wrap from this one-sided match! The action continues in The Men's Hundred as we have a doubleheader on Sunday, the 17th of August. Manchester Originals will take on the Northern Superchargers at 1.30 pm GMT, and later, the Birmingham Phoenix will go against the London Spirit at 5 pm GMT. Tune in early for pre-match excitement and all the other action. Until next time, stay safe, and keep cheering!
Jordan Cox is the Hero of the Match. He expressed his delight at showcasing his team's capabilities to the crowd. He credited the time-out for changing the game's momentum, stating that it allowed his team to regroup and become more aggressive, which ultimately paid off. Cox praised his team's brilliant batting, noting that the target they set was massive for the format. He felt fortunate to have contributed to the team's success.
Earlier in the game, Oval Invincibles posted the highest-ever total in Men's Hundred history with 226 runs. The opening duo of Will Jacks and Tawanda Muyeye started aggressively, getting to 54 for no loss in the Powerplay. The highlight though was Jordan Cox's remarkable knock of 86 off 29 balls with plenty of sixes. Sam Curran and Ferreira also contributed to the massive total. For Welsh Fire, Matt Henry picked two wickets while Chris Green and Saif Zaib picked one each.
Oval Invincibles were sensational with the ball. Jason Behrendorff set the tone with an incisive opening spell, removing the two Welsh Fire openers and finishing with three wickets to his name. The support from the rest of the attack was excellent as well. Tom Curran finished with a four-wicket haul, while the remaining bowlers, barring Nathan Sowter, chipped in with a wicket apiece, collectively delivering an excellent performance to seal the win.
What a complete team performance from the Oval Invincibles as they seal a convincing 83-run victory. Chasing a mammoth 227, Welsh Fire were off to a worst start, losing both openers in quick succession. Jonny Bairstow and Luke Wells then threaded the innings with some bold shots, with Bairstow racing to a well-deserved half-century before his dismissal. Once Bairstow fell, the wickets tumbled at regular intervals, and Welsh Fire found themselves slipping, unable to build any partnerships. They were bowled out for 143 runs!
