The West Indies Champions captain, Chris Gayle, says the wicket was doing a bit initially and they were off to a slow start but credits Kieron Pollard for keeping the team in the game. Shares they wanted some wickets but credits the way India Champions played. Reckons season two of WCL was fantastic and is looking forward to the next season.
Yuvraj Singh, the captain of India Champions says he was sitting with one of the seniors and they mentioned the team won't qualify. Tells the results weren't in their hand but his players put in the effort. Reckons it was important to win the toss. Credits Stuart Binny's innings. Ends by saying self-belief is what he has learned so far in his career.
Stuart Binny is the PLAYER OF THE MATCH for his all-round performance. He says he struck the ball well in the last game and felt good rhythm, he tried to keep his shape and shares Yuvraj Singh helped him in the middle. ...Presentation...
India Champions needed 145 runs to win in 14.1 overs to qualify for the semi-finals, so the openers went berserk right from the start, with no other option. Dhawan played a handy innings but India lost too many wickets as they kept on taking risks but the match-winning partnership came as Stuart Binny and Yuvraj Singh joined hands, with the former playing the match-winning role. What a day he had, Stuart Binny scored a magnificent fifty and took two key wickets early on as well. Yuvraj Singh fell but India has Yusuf Pathan to rely on. His cameo was enough for India to jump from the bottom of the table to fourth but more importantly, qualify for the next round.
West Indies Champions kept on losing wickets but had Kieron Pollard hanging at one end and he made the decision as he always does, to take on the bowlers in the fag end of the innings. The big man and West Indies Champions scored 38 runs in the last three overs, taking West Indies Champions to a total they can bowl at. Piyush Chawla was once again the standout bowler for India as he picked up three wickets.
Before the start of this match, the England Champions and West Indies Champions were considering booking tickets for the next round, with the India Champions having minimal chances. India Champions were coming with all the bets against them, honestly, close to zero chance but India made a good decision to bowl first on a pitch that was a bit slower in nature. They dismantled West Indies Champions, picking four wickets inside the Powerplay.
Incredible scenes in Leicester as India Champions, out of nowhere, qualify for the SEMI-FINALS! Beautiful scenes as Yusuf Pathan runs straightaway into the crowd and gives a big kiss to his son. Beautiful, beautiful. From no win in four games to qualifying for the Semi-Finals! Just strange to even imagine how it has happened.
