Saint Lucia Kings beat Trinbago Knight Riders by 7 wickets

Right then, the TKR home leg ends with a defeat for the home side, but they would feel they have achieved their goal they might have set before their home leg got underway, as they already have qualified for the next round. The next game of the Caribbean Premier League, 2025, will be played between the Barbados Royals and the Guyana Amazon Warriors on 5th September, 2025, at 4.30 am IST (11 pm GMT, the previous day). You can join us an hour early for the build-up as well. Until then, take care and goodbye.
David Wiese, captain of Saint Lucia Kings, praises his bowlers for their outstanding performance, saying they assessed the conditions well. He highlights the team's carefree approach, with players enjoying their cricket and playing with freedom. Wiese feels that chasing a low total can be tense, but his team played without pressure. He appreciates the experience of senior players like Roston Chase and the support of Saint Lucia fans. Wiese emphasises the need to keep pushing for more points to seal a top-two finish.
Nicholas Pooran, captain of Trinbago Knight Riders, expresses satisfaction with the team's five wins before the match, thanking the fans for their support. Although disappointed with the loss, he is pleased that the team could put a smile on the fans' faces during their previous wins. Pooran acknowledges the physical and mental toll of playing five games in a short span and commends his players for giving their best efforts. He adds that the team would review where they fell short and discuss improvements.
TABRAIZ SHAMSI IS THE PLAYER OF THE MATCH for his sensational bowling performance. Tabraiz acknowledges Kieron Pollard's legendary status in the game and reveals that he had taken it upon himself to try and get him out. Shamsi credits Tim Seifert for motivating him to celebrate his wickets, with Seifert encouraging him to be expressive. Shamsi describes his celebrations, which included a 'magic trick' for the first wicket, a 'phone call' for the second, and running to Darren Sammy to say 'I told you' after getting Pollard out. Shamsi refuses to discuss his tactics against Pollard and Andre Russell, citing the possibility of facing them again in the season.
Stay tuned for the presentation ceremony...
Earlier, Saint Lucia Kings' bowlers did an excellent job, exploiting the conditions and utilising the turn to dismiss Trinbago Knight Riders for just 109 runs in 18.1 overs. Tabraiz Shamsi was the standout bowler, taking 3 wickets for 12 runs in 4 overs. Khary Pierre, Roston Chase, and Delano Potgieter each took 2 wickets. TKR's innings saw some notable performances, including Nicholas Pooran's 30 runs off 27 balls and Nathan Edwards's fighting knock. Still, ultimately, the Kings' bowlers controlled the game, restricting TKR to a low total.
The pitch offered significant assistance to the bowlers, particularly the spinners, but the Trinbago Knight Riders' bowling unit failed to capitalise on these conditions. They struggled to trouble the Saint Lucia Kings' batting outfit, conceding runs freely. Sunil Narine was the most successful TKR bowler, taking 2 wickets, while Usman Tariq claimed 1 wicket. Despite the pitch favouring the bowlers, TKR's bowling attack couldn't make a substantial impact.
Tim Seifert set the tone with a flying start for Saint Lucia Kings, batting positively and ensuring the team didn't get tangled up in their approach to chase the modest total. Although he got out after scoring 36, Ackeem Auguste and Roston Chase played crucial cameos, scoring in the 20s, while Tim David also contributed effectively, helping SLK secure a comfortable 7-wicket win.
Saint Lucia Kings delivered a dominant performance, defeating Trinbago Knight Riders by 7 wickets with nearly 9 overs remaining. This comprehensive win not only showcased their strength but also secured their spot in the playoffs.

SIX! BOOM! All the way! Tim David finishes it off for the Saint Lucia Kings! A real half-tracker, over middle, David goes deep in the crease and pulls it away. Does not quite get hold of it but manages to clear the man at the deep mid-wicket fence for a six. The Kings complete the chase with 8.5 overs to spare and are through to the playoffs!
